The recent issue of The Promoter published the wrong information concerning the prices and registration for the 2012 Women's Retreat/Conference.

This year the room rate is $96.00 per room and the registration is $50.00 per person (excluding Free Will Baptist missionaries). When submitting your registration form, please adhere to the above fees and rates when calculating your total.

New 2011/2012 Projects and Information

The OWAC State Meeting was exciting as we heard from Sam Smith and the Foundation Blue Grass Band. Their mission work has been one of our TSP projects and is on the list again this year. We enjoyed the testimony of one of the members and rejoice that the Lord is working through TSP, Bro. Sam Smith and the Foundation FWB Grove Mission.

Our speaker for the worship session was Mrs. Dana Brown, of Jenks, Oklahoma. Dana did an outstanding job relating the new WNAC theme of "Body Builders". She inspired us, and encouraged us to be a healthy, thriving part of the body of Christ.

OWAC Projects for 2011-2012

· Hillsdale - Redecorating and furnishings for the entrance, admissions and recruitment areas of the John West Building.

· TSP OK – Grove Foundation Church retractable projection screen. Estimate $1,000

· TSP and North American Joint Project – Bartlesville Hispanic Mission kitchen renovation. Estimate $3500

· TSP International – Building rent for Steve Torrison’s Via Karola neighborhood church in Panama. Estimate $3600

Goal is $5 per member for each project.

($5.00 per member will not meet our projected goal so we encourage each group to do fundraisers as you can.)

Just a reminder that the 2011 OWAC Retreat/Conference registration begins at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 29. The general session on Friday afternoon begins at 2:00 in the Grand Ballroom. The Friday night session begins at 6:30 with our evening dinner buffet in the Grand Ballroom and continues with our featured speaker, Martha Bolton. The conclusion of the Retreat/Conference will begin Saturday morning at 9AM in the Parkview Ballroom.

2010 OWAC Convention News

The 2010 Convention of OWAC met on Monday, October 18 at Hillsdale College. The attendees enjoyed hearing reports from missionaries, Muriel Gainer and Judy Bailey, as well as Judy Hyatt from the Harvest Children's Home in Mexico.

The new projects were presented and accepted by the body. 2010-2011 OWAC State Projects are

1. Sanctuary chairs for Grove Mission - suggested $5.00 per member Goal: $5000

2. Hillsdale Christmas Scholarship - suggested $10.00 per member Goal: $10,000

The goals have been set high, but since there are only two projects this year and OWAC has not had a goal oriented project since the Barber Center Piano Project, the hope is that Oklahoma women not only meet the goal, but surpass it. This can be done by giving above the suggested amount per member, or by doing special fund raising projects. These are exciting goals for OWAC, and the future looks bright!

With the passing of Jennye Hickman, OWAC Vice President, a spot on the executive committee was vacant. The Executive Committee appointed Mrs. Leanne Ballard, Pryor, OK, as Vice President, to finish Jennye's term. If you were in attendance at the 2010 Convention, you were able to meet Leanne as she led the attendees in worship that day. Please pray for your Executive Committee, as they lead and plan.

The worship service was a special time of sharing God's provision. New Life Singers presented special music, then, those in attendance heard the story of "Life with Liz" from Kelly and Stacy Ross, Guymon, Oklahoma. There were, both, laughter and tears as they shared their hearts and God's Word.

WNAC 2010

WNAC 2010 has come and gone. So much had to be done and it was done so well by the women of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Women Active for Christ. The OWAC state officers outdid themselves in service. They carried things from one building to another. They helped set up stage decor and decorate tables for the WNAC Luncheon. They helped to usher and to host the women in attendance when a need arose. Thanks so much.

In addition to the OWAC state officers, many of our OWAC women were drafted into service. You helped by showing hospitality and kindness to our visitors. You helped to usher and you were gracious hostesses to our guests at WNAC 2010.

With the passing of our newly elected Vice President, Jennye Hickman, came great sorrow. Jennye was loved by everyone and she was always willing to help in any way possible. Her positive attitude and outlook on life endeared her in the hearts of everyone in her path. Jennye will be missed for years to come.

Jennye's position needed to be filled and normal elections are not until October of 2011. Your executive committee, acting as the body, when the body is not in session, has elected a vice president to take Jennye's place and to join the roster of officers. Your new vice president for OWAC is Leanne Ballard of Pryor, OK.

The committee is excited at what Leanne brings to OWAC and the experience that she has from serving in South Grand River and her local church. Be sure to make a point to meet Leanne at the OWAC Women's Conference and Retreat in April at the Doubletree Hotel, Warren Place, Tulsa, OK.

Sad news

OWAC lost a dear worker and we lost a wonderful friend. In November Jennye Hickman lost her battle with cancer and won her heavenly home. She is at home with Jesus. She has ceased from her labor and from her pain. During her funeral service we were privilged to hear Jennye sing to us through a recording. She was singing of her savior and of heaven which have now been made sight. She is missed.

Oklahoma WAC Member Speaks at Indiana WAC Retreat

Jennifer Miseneheimer, a member of OWAC was recently the speaker for the Indiana Women Active for Christ annual women's retreat. The retreat was held March 20-21, 2009 in Shipshewana, Indiana at the Farmstead Inn and Conference Center in "Amish Country".

The theme for their retreat was "Taught by the Bible. Led by the Spirit." Jennifer did an outstanding job as she presented three sessions. There were many questions answered, and probably more questions raised as Jennifer lead the attendees to honor God's Word and avoid outside influence.

Our speaker, Sandy Atwood, lives in Nashville, TN and is married to Richard. They have ministered together for 31 years which includes 20 years as church planters in Delaware at two different church plants. They moved to Nashville in 2000 when Richard joined the National Home Missions Department. Richard and Sandy have four adult children ranging in age from 21 to 28 years old. Sandy is a mentor for MOPS (Moms Of Preschoolers), and is a writer for CLEAR children's curriculum. You may have also seen articles and money saving advice, which she authored with her sister, in Together magazine . Hobbies she enjoys are playing the piano, reading and traveling.You will enjoy Sandy's knowledge of the Bible as well as her quick wit and flair. She will minister to those of all ages.

Worship and music will be delivered by young ladies from Hillsdale who are serving in the promotional groups this year. They will be under the leadership of Sherri Sloan. A special music presentation from them will be presented on Friday night before Sandy speaks.

Proceeds for the craft and silent auction will go toward the 2010 WNAC Host Fund. (2010 WNAC will be held in Oklahoma City with OWAC as Host group.) The current balance is $10,000, but the new goal has been set at $15,000. Bring something to sell or auction, money in your purse to spend, or bring your check books!

Please submit names of all women attending, even those not booking rooms. You may specify them as "day attendee". Missionaries attending will have their registration fee waived but will need to book their room and submit form to Shelia by the deadline.

Conference registration will begin May 1, at 1:00 PM in the hotel lobby. The afternoon session will begin at 2:00. Most attendees will check into their rooms after the 2:00 session since the rooms will not be guaranteed until after that time. Friday evening dinner and session will begin at 6:30 and Saturday morning we will meet for our final session of the weekend at 9 AM.

Name tags must be worn to all sessions.

Submit registration and rooming list to Shelia Rooker by March 1, 2009. There will be a registration form in an upcoming issue of The Promoter, the Oklahoma State Association of Free Will Baptist newsletter/magazine. If you do not receive The Promoter, please make a rooming list including all those staying in each room (maximum 4 to each room), along with registration for each person attending and room rate for each room reserved. This list should include the church and WAC group name, a contact person with name, address, phone and email. (Note any special requests on this form also, i.e. handicap room, etc.)

"Traveling Companions"

Traveling Companions was the theme for the 2008 First Mission WAC Retreat. The retreat was held August 1 & 2, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. It began with dinner at Sirloin Stockade and proceeded on to Highland Park Free Will Baptist Church for the evening session.

The evening session began with a women's quartet from the Oilton Free Will Baptists Church. These women blessed hearts on Friday evening and Saturday morning as they sang praises to God.

The speaker for the weekend was Wanda Kellett, of Lawton, Oklahoma. Sis. Kellett shared from the book of Esther. Friday night the attendees were challenged to submit to the King and to the place where he has placed us. Then on Saturday morning, the challenge went forth to continue on with the task and to follow through so that the prize, audience with the King and the marriage supper, can be won.

Small groups formed after the Friday evening session. Following the small groups a time of fellowship, with plenty of food was enjoyed.

An added bonus to the retreat this year was when Regina Black brought a dramatic presentation of Corrie Ten Boom. There were laughter and tears as she recalled Miss Ten Boom's life.

PRAYER REQUEST UPDATES AND PRAISE

Many of you know that Steven Bigger, son of Rev. David and Linda Bigger suffered a stroke in June, which included a blood clot in or near the brain stem. His prognosis was grim at the onset, but we serve a great God! Steven is recovering due to a miracle of God and His wonderful grace. We are asking for continued prayer for his progress, especially his hearing and mobility. Pray for Steven's family and all those who are giving him the care that he needs.

Also, former OWAC President, Sis. Belva Mabra underwent surgery for breast cancer. The Lord was also gracious to her and the prognosis is good. She is undergoing treatments, and the cancer seemed to be contained. Praise the Lord. She also was involved in an car accident and was banged up, but she was praising the Lord that it was on the same side as her surgery so that she can still be free to use one side of her upper body without pain. Isn't that amazing? Continue to hold Sis. Belva up in your prayer, as well as her family.

I can't believe how close the convention is. I was in Ohio this past weekend and gave my final state report and spoke my final message as WNAC Executive Secretary-Treasurer. I had a great time with the Ohio women. I am going to miss all of you. You all have been so kind and sweet and supportive when I've visited your state.

Be praying for the convention. Our Tea seminar speakers--Mrs.. Thigpen, Mrs.. Miley, Dr. Wisehart, and Amanda Kilgore. Our missionary service--Becky Derby and our luncheon speaker--Kristi Johnson.

I wanted to let you know that we have about 35 luncheon tickets left. If you know someone needing a ticket, tell them not to wait until they get to the convention to buy a ticket--there may not be any available. It is too late to order through pre-registration, but if they will send the money to WNAC, we will send them a ticket.

If your state is thinking of buying a ticket for a missionary, do it before the convention. I have the following missionaries planning to attend who have not purchased tickets: Jim & Vicki Sturgill, Sam & June McVay, Jerry & Carol Pinkerton, Bobby & Geneva Poole, Tommy & Pam Jones, and Debbie Griffin. I realize someone could have purchased their tickets for them but I'm not aware of it. I just know the missionary has not purchased them.

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST FROM SHANNON LITTLE

Dear Friend,

I'm sitting in the waiting room of Baptist Hospital in Nashville, totallyamazed at the miracle God is working right in front of my eyes. On Tuesdayof last week, Mom's doctor talked to me about end of life issues. Today,Mom smiled at me and mouthed "I love you" around her breathing tube. Theyare probably going to take that tube out tomorrow and hopefully I'll get to hear her say those words for real! She still isn't moving her right arm and the movement in her right leg isn't as strong as the movement in her left but she knows who we are and is even smiling at times. She nods her head appropriately in response to questions but doesn't seem to understand everything we say to her. Her fever has finally broken and the dcotors think her infection is finally clearing. Thank you so much for your prayers and I ask that you please continue to pray!

Dear Friend,

I'm sorry for the brevity of this email and for my lack of updates here ofl ate but life has been very crazy. I have an urgent prayer request to share with you. My mother (Brenda Little) was admitted to Baptist Hospital last night. She has had flu like symptoms for about a week but last night she fell out of bed and became incoherent. She has decreased movement on her right side.

When she arrived at the hospital, they suspected a stroke but all of her brain scans have been normal. She has a very high temperature (103.7) and they are trying to do a spinal tap to rule out meningitis, but, because of medication used to treat some of her other medical problems, her blood has been too thin. They were forced to insert a breathing tube and place her on a ventilator because she was beginning to have trouble breathing on her own. She is in critical condition at this point and the doctors are unsure what is causing her illness.

Please pray that God will miraculously heal her. My father is with her but is understandably scared, as am I. My brother is on his way to Nashville from Arkansas and my mom's sister just arrived from Georgia. I am thankful that my Dad is getting some support but really wish that I could be there as well. Please pray for wisdom on my part to know when and if I should return to Nashville to be with her. Thank you so much for your prayers and support.

2008 OWAC RETREAT RECAP

Thanks to everyone who made this year's OWAC Women's Retreat a success. Our numbers were slightly up this year, with 251 registrants. (We did have a couple of men visitors who were not registered, but we never hold that against them.) The total retreat offering was more than expected, as the ladies gave $1744.83 that weekend. Besides the offering, the attendees bought and bid during the annual craft sale/silent auction. The ending amount for the sale was $2345.00, which goes to the Host Fund. Praise the Lord! We are also happy to report, that because of the registration numbers we were able to add $502.00 to the OWAC Scholarship Fund.

The program this year was outstanding. Each speaker brought experience and knowledge, as well as Truth. The musicians were in tune to the message of the retreat, for each song blended in harmony with the messages brought forth.

A few things were out of our control, such as the temperature in the meeting room and the raw chicken! (These things have been addressed with the hotel management.) Our Oklahoma Free Will Baptist Women Active for Christ were a picture of grace and poise as some of them sat with bleeding chicken thighs on their plates, yet kept a Christ-like demeanor. (Thanks so much!) However, the things which we could manage made the retreat wonderful. Those things were the prayers that were said during specific prayer times for each speaker and the musicians. The preparations that each woman made in her own heart to receive the messages gave the Holy Spirit a hardy welcome. Then, the Holy Spirit did come, and He did prick our hearts and spirits to stay ever closer to Him during our own road trips through this life.

If you missed the retreat this year, you will want to put the OWAC 2009 Retreat on your calendar. If you came, you will want to reserve the date and bring others with you. The 2009 retreat will be held at the Marriott Southern Hills in Tulsa (same location) on May 1 & 2.

This date does not interfere with Mother's Day and the Oklahoma State Christian Education Board will be addressing to schedule State CTS Competition on another Saturday. Road Trip

Watch For Signs!

Remember those road trips where everything has been planned to the minute details? How exciting to plan, and then execute the plans for the long awaited trip! Once on the road, the inevitable happens. Along the way that you have mapped out, you encounter numerous road signs. Some of the signs may be expected, such as "Yield" or "Caution", but there are other signs that show up that are unexpected. There may be a "Road Block", "Detour", "No U Turn", or "Sudden Stop" ahead.

During the 2008 Annual OWAC Retreat, we will hear from four women, who have encountered these signs during their road trip through life. You will want to hear Jennifer Miseneheimer describe "Proceed With Caution", as she encountered several world religions as a child, but found her way to Christ and true doctrine. Becky Gwartney will also share the "Road Blocks and Detours" that she unexpectedly encountered. Linda Bigger will take us down a straight path with "No U Turns", and then on Saturday morning, Janice Banks will share her intimate journey and a very "Sudden Stop" on her road trip.

Friday night will be dinner together and a special music presentation by the "Matherly Trio" before our Friday night speaker takes the podium.

Encourage all the women in your group or circle of friends to attend this year's retreat. It is shaping up to be one of the best retreats ever. The speakers are praying and preparing. The officers are planning and plodding. We need you to pack and proceed to the retreat!

Room rate: $88.00 per room ( maximum 4 in room)

Registrations must be postmarked by March 1, 2008.

An additional late fee of $10.00 per person should be added, if postmarked after March 1st.

Copy the form below or add a sheet for additional names. Please, divide your group according to number of rooms and room assignments. Each group is responsible for sending the room money along with the registration fees. Please submit names of all women attending including women not staying at the hotel, who should be noted as “Day Attendee”.

Conference registration: 1:00 PM

First Session: 2:00 PM

Room check-in: Immediately following the the 2:00 PM session

Dinner & evening session: 6:30 PM.

*The silent auction will end after more bidding following the evening session on Friday night. (Please bring items for the silent auction to the meeting room before the first session begins so that bidding may begin.)

Saturday

Saturday session: 9:00 AM.

*Ten door prizes will be awarded on Saturday morning.

Dismissal

Nametags must be worn to all services.

Make every effort to submit your registration form on time, submitting one form per church. Include the contact person’s name, mailing and email address (if available) and phone number. List any special requests - handicap room, staying an additional night, sharing room with another church, etc. All rooms will be booked with double beds unless specifically requested as king beds. Registration is non-refundable, but is transferable to another person.

Welcome to the first post of the Oklahoma Women Active for Christ!

The new officers have been elected for the upcoming term and things are off and running.

First on the OWAC Agenda is your OWAC State Projects. There are FIVE state projects this year;

1. Hillsdale Renovation -- the furnishings for the newly remodeled women's dormitory/lounge/study area.

2. TSP--Grove Mission Work: they have a newly appointed state mission worker, Rev. Sam Smith.

3. TSP--Piedmont Mission Work
